Energy Academy is a live theatrical production that presents three hilarious sketches all about energy efficiency. By watching and participating in these improvisation-based sketches, students will learn about how electricity is generated from natural resources, how electricity gets wasted every day and what we all can do to help conserve electricity and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.
In the first sketch, we meet Sonny, the owner of a carnival who is having problems with their latest ride. It has run out of resources and no longer works. Sonny enlists the help of Wrench to help solve the problem. Together, they learn all about natural resources and how we use them to generate electricity.
In the second sketch, famed pirate Captain Doorknob and their 27th mate, Swabby, try to figure out all the ways the electricity is being wasted on the ship. They take turns showing each other all the ways electricity is used every day and how we can waste it without even knowing it.
Lastly, we meet Dr. Frankenstein and Igor as they try to power their latest creation, Frank Junior, using all sorts of renewable resources. They learn that renewable resources like the sun, wind and moving water are valuable because they keep coming back again and again.
Students and teachers will also have access to an e-learning package that includes games, quizzes and lesson plans for the classroom to reinforce concepts from the show. Additionally, Energy Academy challenges your staff and students’ families to save energy at home by providing Energy Kits for students in second, fifth and eighth grade, that contain items to conserve electricity and water.
