PSO’s ‘Captain Wattage’ to share lessons in schools

Public Service Co. of Oklahoma has partnered with The National Theatre for Children to educate students and their families about electrical safety.

Beginning on Oct. 5, the “Captain Wattage” e-learning program will be made available to some 25 elementary schools in the PSO service area.

In the past, PSO and NTC have partnered to bring in-person theatrical performances into schools. This year, Captain Wattage and his superhero-themed lessons will be livestreamed instead.

Performances are meant to teach students about how electricity is made, about uses of electricity, how to identify dangerous electrical situations and ways to stay safe around electricity. The Captain Wattage online show also will feature a live host to introduce and recap lessons and answer questions.

The show is supplemented by online curriculum including games, hands-on lessons, interactive activities, e-books, graphic novels and more, all sponsored by PSO.
