We’re Going Everywhere

When we identify ourselves as The National Theatre for Children, we’re not kidding or exaggerating about the “National” part. This fall alone, September through mid-December, we will send acting troupes to perform in 19 states–from the Atlantic to the Pacific (about 3,000 miles), from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico (2,000 miles).  Making this happen smoothly involves plenty of friendly phone conversations by our School Communications department coordinating a myriad of details  … drive times, school schedules and holidays, mapping, four time zones, geography, math, research and logistics  … that’s what we do!

Here are the states we’re visiting this fall: Arkansas, California, Florida, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia.

Looking for a fun class activity?

  • Ask your students how many of the 19 states listed above are mentioned in Johnny Cash’s famous recording of I’ve Been Everywhere.
  • Challenge your students to list all the state capitals and then plan the shortest route to visit the capitals in those 19 states.

And while our actors are visiting those states this fall, we’ll be gearing up to do it all over again for the 2018 winter and spring touring seasons and hopefully it will be to your school. You can find out if we’re visiting your area by going to www.nationaltheatre.com and entering your Zip code. Have a happy and fun start to your 2017-18 school year!
